~ February 19th & 20th will be a musical February weekend, with two performances at South Haven's Foundry Hall. Friday evening brings Theo Katzman to the stage for the fresh sounds of an ever-evolving guitarist/ singer/ songwriter. Saturday evening is another of the Foundry's popular "dinner & show" series. Last month our guests raved about the experience, and this month it's an evening of blues, great food and great fun.
~ Do You Consider Yourself a "Foodie"? If you enjoy a variety of flavors and foods, make plans to be in town for the weekend of February 20th. Saturday is the "Taste of South Haven" hosted at Lake Michigan College. This year, all proceeds will benefit the Haiti Relief Fund.
~ Start Planning Now for Fenn Valley's fabulous Pre-Release weekends in March. Gather your friends and reserve a spot for tasting the first wines of the 2009 vintage. A free, fun event with wine samples, food, insights and special savings. Reservations are required for Fenn Valley's Pre-Release Event, and experience has taught us the sooner the better for this popular experience! (Have a good size group? Consider one of our three bedroom three bathroom cottages)
~ The outdoor ice skating rink is under the pavilion in downtown South Haven. The perfect setting for a spin around the ice, including snowflake lights hung high and Cafe Julia's coffees & sweets just steps away!
~ Winery Tours and Tasting - The best way to warm up a wintry evening is with a glass of wine you've chosen yourself! Meet the folks who make it happen, enjoy free samples and learn a little on the side. Even though the growing season is over, you can still visit Fenn Valley Winery, Contessa, St. Julian Winery and Warner Winery.
~ Timber Ridge Ski Area is in full swing, with folks enjoying the natural snow, groomed slopes and the helpful staff at the Ridge!
~ Sarett Nature Center has over five miles of trails for exploration. Rent cross-country skis for ten dollars for a couple of hours. Amanda suggests the pine trail for a beautiful stretch of trail, or the lowlands trail for a more difficult and longer run out to the river. Intimidated by skis? Try snow shoes from Sarett - they fit on your own boots, and with a camera and a good sense of humor you're off! Check out tree top trail tower, high above the wetlands.
~ March 14th, the Film Institute of South Haven (FISH) will present the film "Outsourced" for a free public viewing. The film, a modern day comedy, debuted at the 2006 Toronto Film Festival and tells the story of a call-center manager who is fired then sent to India to train his own replacement. The film begins at 3 pm and admission is free.
