~ Every Wednesday & Saturday, stop by the Farmer's Market in downtown South Haven. From 8 am to 2 pm, you'll find fresh Michigan asparagus and other produce from local traditional and organic farmers.
~ Thursday evenings during the summer, enjoy a free outdoor concert at Riverfront Park. Grab a spot on the grass and enjoy an hour long concert with music drifting over the river. It might be jazz, country, big band, swing or contemporary, and the crowd is always appreciative!
~ Friday evenings meet under the pavilion in downtown South Haven for a chance to kick up your heels. Dance lessons will be available around 7 pm, or simply enjoy the music and give it a whirl yourselves. Waltz, tango, swing, Latin, salsa, family circle and line dances are planned throughout the summer.
~ Winery Tours and Tasting - Our best advice if you're an "amateur" wine drinker is to visit a winery in our area for free tasting. You'll get a chance to try a variety of white wines & red wines without the full bottle commitment from a store. Meet the folks who make it happen, enjoy free samples and learn a little on the side. Southwest Michigan has quite a few wineries, and within a short drive you can visit Fenn Valley Winery & Vineyard, MacIntosh Wine Cellars, Contessa Wine Cellars, Karma Vista Vineyards, St. Julian Winery and Warner Wines.
~ Out and Active In addition to our swimming pool, tennis court and basketball court, there's a lot to do when visiting South Haven. Take our advice for the best places to rent kayaks for a paddle on Lake Michigan or an inland lake. Bring your own bikes or rent a pair in town for a ride on the Kal-Haven Trail (or just along the neighborhood streets). Hike up the sand dunes at Van Buren State Park.
~ Take a Sail on a Tall Ship ~ The Michigan Maritime Museum proudly offers sails on the replica tall ship Friends Goodwill. There's no mistaking this ship on the horizon! If you prefer an excursion for just the two of you, check out the Gypsy Soul or the Cat's Meow.
~ Foundry Hall brings a variety of events
to South Haven, with acoustic music groups
from bluegrass to blues, ragtime to reggae,
and undiscovered singer/songwriters. You're missing out if you
don't put the Foundry on your list when
you visit our area. |
